HOW IT WORKS

PreVision is an accessible VR previs platform that allows creatives to use their favorite tools to simultaneously collaborate with each other, in-scale and in-venue. The equipment required is a compatible computer, a headset, and whatever tech software you’re already planning to use in technical rehearsals. The PreVision session is rendered in real time, and is built off of Unreal Engine- an industry-leading light and sound simulator. And once a sequence is greenlit by the creative team, there’s no exporting necessary. Just walk into the venue, open your save file, and you’re ready to start the show.

Previsualization is expensive

Even for an extremely small-budget show, the drafting software necessary to begin the process of previs, AutoCAD, is over $2000 a year. For a single designer, that is an incredible yearly cost for being in the business. Lighting design previs software- Vectorworks- is $1500 a year, plus a few thousand for a DMX puck. Full Previsualization teams will cost productions tens of thousands of dollars to run throughout the process.

LIVE EVENT Previs is INEFFICIENT

All of these industry-standard pieces of software… they are all optimized for a specific area of design at the expense of the others- and they don’t talk to each other in a meaningful way. Extensive conversion processes are necessary to open an AutoCAD File in Watchout.

LIVE EVENT Previs is OUTDATED

The industry standard render engines are based on code that was written in the early 2010s, and they have had little competition- thereby incentive- to improve their offerings. $1500 a month, and every modern video game looks better. There is no raytracing. There is no refined materials editor. Competitors do not offer live cloud collaboration. Competitors do not offer VR support.
